I can't quite begin to describe all the experiences, except that as each moment passed the bonds and healing of some of our fractured souls and bodies begin a new path. We camped along the San Juan river outside of Bluff, Utah and next the Navajo Nation reservation. Took part in a day of "sweat" in lodges constructed by the Navajo people welcoming us back home and offering to share their traditions of healing and suffering so that we could move on in our lives. We took part in archaeological petroglyph walks of panels in surrounding canyons by a local anthropologist, and guided for days by BLM rangers to some of the most remote canyons in the Cedar Mesa region. We even had the privilege of listening to fireside chats travels and experiences of Doug Peacock (Vietnam Veteran, author, environmentalist, bear enthusiast,
Among countless others)
It is nearly impossible to describe the people and moments had with them as well as solitude. Many if not most folks there are all at pivotal times of making huge changes and direction in their lives. But the energy and bonds that were felt will elevate the grave importance of the healing power and magic that occur when amongst the wilderness and nature. And when coupled with our comrades of every era, we have the beginnings of a new outlook and empowerment to live a better life. With this comes an obligation to pass this knowledge and experience on to the next and find meaning in the horizon.
